The members of Cloud Nine Quilters Group met for the first time in 2006 and we have planned our way forward forthe year. Hopefully, each member will be as enthusiastic as they were last year and possibly more productive . It is hoped that there will be much experimentation and as a result some truely spectacular pieces will come forth.

THE AIDS QUILTS (cont)
MEMORY BOX by Ruth Seipp. This quilt reflects the story of the memory boxes which some HIV/AIDS victims leave behind for their loved ones. This piece was subsequently framed and is now in a private collection. Hand Stitched and beaded, some South African Shweshwe fabric and some hand dyed fabric from AMAFU Hand dyes.
The following triad of quilts were made as a commission for a socially responsible multinational company which is active in and supportive of the fight against HIV/AIDS.
LIVE IN HOPE by Glenda Kirkiridis ws made in response to the many people living with HIV/AIDS in South Africa. The names on the quilt are in memory if the people Glenda knew who have died of HIV/AIDS complications. So far the number is up to 10. The quilt was subsequently framed and is now in a private collection.
SIZE: approximately 50 cm X 75 cm. Hand embroidered and beaded. Fabric was hand dyed by AMAFU Hand dyes.
SAVE THE CHILDEN by Beth Barkus was made in response to the many children living with HIV/AIDS and the many,many orphans left to fend for themselves as a result of the death of their parents or caregivers through HIV/AIDS. The piece was subsequently framed and is now in a private collection.
